Here in our offices at Beautiful Smiles, we strive to provide the best dental care in Rego Park and the surrounding area. This includes providing both full and partial dentures. Dentures are a set of custom-made replacements for missing teeth and the surrounding tissues that are removable.
If you seem to have lost one or more of your permanent teeth, you have more to worry about than the way you look.
If you are missing several teeth together, dentures are likely a good option for you.
Dentures near you will be custom-made for each patient from the impressions that were taken in your mouth. It will depend on the number of teeth you have lost, as to the type of denture that will be most suited for your situation. Your ideal patient is the one who is missing several of their teeth in a row, and who has good oral health.
If you happen to be missing all, or about all, of the teeth that follow your dental arch, then full dentures might be what you need. If you are missing just a few teeth, a partial denture might be the best solution for you.
They make the base of a set of dentures out of a flesh-colored acrylic or plastic that will rest on your gums and has been perfectly molded so it will fit comfortably and snugly. Your upper set will cover the palate or rather the roof of the mouth. There will be a thin layer of saliva that wets the area between your dentures and the gums to form a seal and anchors the dentures. Therefore, having dry mouth can be a reason your dentures will loosen. Since there must be sufficient area for your tongue, the lower set of dentures is made in a horseshoe-shaped, held in place by the muscles of your cheek and tongue.
A partial is a plate that has one or more prosthetic teeth on it. If you have healthy and sufficient natural teeth, then a dental bridge is possible to use. Bridges are called bridges because they can bridge the gap in between two areas. A false tooth is then anchored to crowns that are on either side of that gap; however, if the natural teeth are not in good shape, the prosthetic tooth could be attached to an implant that has been embedded in your jaw.
It is true that it takes time to get used to wearing dentures and it will never be the same as natural teeth; the false teeth made today are more natural appearing and more comfortable than those made ten years ago.
